A Capacity Building Programme on the topic "Value Education through Sports" was organized by CBSE Centre of Excellence at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School on 27th August 2026.
The programme aimed at sensitizing teachers about integrating values with physical education and sports to ensure holistic development of students.
The resource persons for the day were Mrs. Vega and Mrs. Poonam Sharma. Both are eminent CBSE empanelled resource persons with vast experience in the field of value-based education.
1. Inaugural Session
The programme commenced with a warm welcome of the resource persons. The importance of value education in the present scenario was highlighted.
Sports as a medium of values
The resource persons emphasized that the playground is the best laboratory for learning values like honesty, integrity, teamwork, respect, tolerance and fair play.

Integration, not an extra subject:
Value education should not be taught as a separate subject but should be integrated with sports and daily activities.

Role of a Teacher:
A teacher is a facilitator who can transform a physical activity into a life lesson. Winning and losing are secondary; character building is primary.

Interactive Activities:
The session was made highly interactive through group discussions, case studies, videos and on-field activities. Teachers actively participated and shared their experiences of handling conflict and behavioural issues on the field.
The resource persons concluded that sports provide experiential learning. Values imbibed on the field stay with the child for life.
The session was highly enriching and informative. All the participants appreciated the programme and found it very useful for their professional growth. The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks.
